It sure seems like all of Walker Creek was fun and games. I do need to take some time to mention the many hours I, and other teachers, devoted to giving out medication to students, dealing with homesickness, tending to the injuries, and dealing with the behavioral issues.
BUT it is all worth it because the students...
- gain independence and confidence
- learn about nature and science
- cope with difficult situations, especially homesickness
- have the time of their lives
