Day 522 (June 21, 2012)

Sailboat Container
Still organizing the baby's room.  My mom found this storage container that goes great with his transportation theme.

Day 521 (June 20, 2012)

Cleaning, Folding, Putting Away Sparky's Clothes
Loving Sparky's Room
I know it is fun now to clean, fold and to put away baby clothes but I am sure it will become a chore soon enough.  I love looking at all the cute outfits and admiring how small everything is thinking how my baby boy will be in them soon enough.

And, as I walked into his room to put away the clothes I noticed this big, gray, furry thing on the rocking chair...Harley is taking over.  He may look like he is giving a nasty hiss but it was simply a lazy yawn!

Day 520 (June 19, 2012)

Home, Away From Home
I have been to Valley Care Medical Center tons lately...lots of doctor visits.  Good thing it is close to home.

Day 519 (June 18, 2012)

Happy Birthday, Mom!
I had to share this photo...I love it!

Day 518 (June 17, 2012)

Rocco's Pizza
Chris Loving His Pizza and Get-a-Way
The night before we ordered our favorite pizza...YUM!  We enjoyed it in our frigid hotel room (it had been 105 degrees that day).  And, on our outing to pick up the pizza we went on a search for dominoes because we had forgotten our set at home and that game would be imperative for our pool lounging when the pool opened.

The pool did indeed open and we enjoyed a day by the pool with a wonderful cabana, pool side food and drink service, with lots of dominoes playing!

Day 517 (June 16, 2012)

Short Get-a-Way to Renaissance Club Sport
Pool Time
The Renaissance Club Sport in Walnut Creek has been our little get-a-way spot for years now.  This is where we used to belong to the gym when we lived in Walnut Creek and where we stayed after our wedding.  So, we usually try to make a yearly event of re-visiting this spot.

We checked in early to have optimum pool time.  After we got all settled in and relaxed at the pool, an hour later the whistle blows, "Out of the pool," the lifeguard yelled.  This sure got our attention as they closed down the pool.  We thought for sure a "Baby Ruth" was in the pool.  But, no, it was just baby puke.  That is nothing to these old time swimmers.  Puke was just pushed into the drain in my day.  Clearly this pool had a different protocol...pool was closed for 6 hours!

Annoyed doesn't cover our feelings.  Chris set on out to find the manager and I accompanied him to get the pregnancy sympathy.

The hotel offered us a snack and drink on them to make up for the pool closure.  A snack and drink?!?!  We laughed at that and said we would check back when the manager could be found to deal with our plight.

Later, when we finally encountered the manager she made the same low ball offer and we proposed a high ball offer of a half off room.  In the end we met in the middle with a comped room service breakfast.  Our $70 breakfast was wonderful!  :)

Day 516 (June 15, 2012)

Furniture Delivered
We are feeling more prepared now that Sparky's furniture is in the room.  We still have plenty of work to do and may move around the furniture arrangement but it is here.  A big "thank you" to my parents for giving this little boy his furniture...it is beautiful!

Day 515 (June 14, 2012)

Adorable!

Finally, he showed us his face and what a cutie!  All along Sparky has hidden his face except for one time but it was a "windblown" look.  This time we saw his cute chubby cheeks and pouting lips!

He was measuring great at this 32 week check-up and I was told his hair was full of hair which is not a trait from my bald baby sided of the family.

I keep looking at these photos just amazed that this little guy is growing inside of me...so much love for him!

Day 514 (June 13, 2012)

End of the School Year
Yes, I will miss the class and I do love teaching BUT the last days of school are quite wonderful!  I love summer and this summer with Sparky on the way has made me very eager for school to end.

Day 513 (June 12, 2012)

Drawing Baby Walker
My class put on a baby shower for Sparky and me!  :)

The first game was to draw a picture of Sparky using the paper plate on their head and obviously not looking at the drawing (see above).  There were some interesting pictures of my baby!  Next, the kids had a word scramble of all sorts of baby words.  The kids were so engaged and learned some new words like bassinet and onesie.  I learned a new word too...layette.

Then the kids were to write some words of advice to me as a mom.  Here are a few of my favorites:

"Use reverse psychology."
"Hold your breath when changing his diaper."
"Let all his dreams come true."

And, then the kids had some cupcakes and we opened some gifts.  We got spoiled!

Day 512 (June 11, 2012)

Finally!
After I had to run into school to drop off substitute plans for my report card day, I made a stop at IHOP.  I have been craving a yummy omelette breakfast and the pancakes were icing on the cake.  I sure enjoyed my breakfast before getting to work.

Day 511 (June 10, 2012)

Now, I Get It
I admit I always laughed at these parking spots but now I am utilizing them.

Saturday, June 9, 2012

Day 510 (June 9, 2012)

Serious Work in Progress
It may not look like it but I made some serious progress in Sparky's room today!  Now we just need to put away some of the things to a new location.  Furniture arrives on Friday the 15th, so we have got to get it completed!

Day 509 (June 8, 2012)

Baby Shower Invitation
My friends and family baby shower is coming up in July.  I just LOVE the invitations my sister-in-law, Shawna, sent out...adorable!

Day 508 (June 7, 2012)

Summary Squares
Hacker Trail
Here are just two of the many displays that were up for the 5th graders Portfolio Night.  Once again, the night went so well and so many of the parents complimented all the hard work.  And, hard work it was especially being just about 8 months pregnant!  I thought I was doing so well, physically, until I went to bed and tried to get up in the middle of the night!  Oh boy did my back hurt!

Day 507 (June 6, 2012)

Final Art Project
I thought these lighthouses turned out wonderfully!  It was this classes' last art project and they really performed, wow!

Day 506 (June 5, 2012)

Clara Barton
Helen Keller
I had posted earlier the beginning stages of our bottle head dolls.  Well, here are two finished dolls...they look much better when completed!

After many burns from the glue gun, the students have completed their creations for our Portfolio Night.

Day 505 (June 4, 2012)

Grandpa With His Legacy
This photo was taken at my grandmother's funeral about 18 months ago.  My grandfather was laid to rest on this day, June 4, 2012.

The mass was beautifully done and my mom was so brave to get up and speak about her father.  She did a great job and I learned later that she had been asked to give this speech just few minutes prior to the funeral.

After mass, there was a military tribute to Grandpa who served in the U.S. Army for 22 years.  The 21 gun salute, taps playing and folding of the American flag was all so impressive!

Lastly, we celebrated this great man's life at my aunt and cousins' property amongst the vineyards.  Grandpa was sure looking over us!

Day 504 (June 3, 2012)

Infant Care Class
Months ago I woke up in a panic, turned to Chris and asked, "How are we supposed to know what to do with this baby?!"  After that, we decided to sign up for an infant care class that our hospital offers.

We attended and definitely feel both more prepared yet overwhelmed.  I am definitely impressed with our hospital where we will be delivering and am thankful we attended the class.  There was lots of note-taking on my part!

Day 503 (June 2, 2012)

We Got The BOB
Our Video Monitor
Lion Mat
Here are just a FEW (that's right, we got spoiled) of the gifts from the work shower given to me.  We also got a lion towel set, a bather, a changing pad with cover, and an infant care set.

In addition, both my mom and mother-in-law attended with gifts to spoil me an Sparky.  :)  We are so appreciative!

Day 502 (June 1, 2012)

My Baby Shower, From Work
Transportation Cupcakes
I feel so lucky to have such a wonderful staff that I work with at school.  They showered me with many, many gifts, I feel so spoiled.

I especially loved the diaper wreath and transportation cupcakes seen above.

Day 501 (May 31, 2012)

George Bokanich, My Beloved Grandfather
This was the day that my grandfather joined his love of his life in heaven.  He was sharp as ever when I said goodbye to him the prior day, his 94 year old body just could not continue on.

I will never forget sitting in his hospital room with a constant flow of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren coming in to say goodbye.  It was then that I was sitting across from Grandpa and he was mesmerized with my baby belly.  I can imagine he was sad that he wouldn't get to meet his 19th great-grandchild, I know it makes me deeply sad to know that Sparky won't be able to meet this great man.  Grandpa, you will be missed!

My grandfather's obituary is as follows:

"George Rudolf Bokanich Mar. 22, 1918 - May 31, 2012 Resident of Livermore George is preceded in death by his wife, Joan in 2010. He is survived by his 4 daughters, 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 4th, 12:00 Noon at St. Michael Catholic Church, 458 Maple ST., Livermore, CA. Final resting place at St. Michael Cemetery. Callaghan Mortuary."

Day 500 (May 30, 2012)

Space Savers
Now, to work on fitting all of our stuff into our little amount of storage.  Here you see those space saver bags that get all the air sucked out using a vacuum.  Well, there you see four pillows and two comforters brought down to a much smaller size for proper storage.

Day 499 (May 29, 2012)

Complete With a Flat Screen
Well, clearly the room was not complete without a new flat screen.  I don't know if I will see Chris anymore.  Each time I walk by this room Harley and Chris are on the futon watching TV.  :)

Day 498 (May 28, 2012)

The "Man Cave"
Chris worked so hard on getting the office organized.  This required some major work and some help from his dad to move furniture around.  Chris (and Harley) now have their "man cave".  You can even spot Chris watching me take the picture because he is so protective of his room.

Day 497 (May 27, 2012)

San Jose Giants
Gigante, The Mascot
The Beer Batter
Fed up with the SF Giants' ticket prices, Chris and I opted to see the AA Giants down in San Jose.  The ballpark was smaller, filled with families, and was lots of fun.  Everything was cheap and their was a BBQ food area that was wonderful.

The mascot, Gigante, loved to mess with everyone around the park...especially kids.  But the most hilarious part was the "Beer Batter".  There was a player chosen from the opposing team which was chosen to be the "Beer Batter".  If this player struck out then beers were buy one get one free!  So, when that batter had two strikes the stands nearly cleared out.  Unfortunately for Chris, the "Beer Batter" only struck out once.

We had a fun experience and will be heading back some time in the future.

Day 496 (May 26, 2012)

Will Sparky Be a Leftie Like Daddy?
This once was hung up in Chris' bathroom at home and then made its way to our guest room.  Chris is saving it for Sparky when (if) we learn that he is a leftie.  Daddy is rooting for him to be a leftie!  We'll see...for now Sparky sure is coordinated with his kicks and punches inside his mommy.

Day 495 (May 25, 2012)

The Evidence
Dixie would deny ever being bad but the evidence is clear.  Now, sometimes the kitty helps out or makes a mess of the toilet paper by himself but this one was a solo job.  And, no guilt shown by the basset hound!
