Day 17

Tea for Two
Tea for two?  Isn't the tea just for me?  Well, if you know me at all then you know that I am a clutz...I blame it on growing 6 inches in one year!

So, I was bringing my green tea latte back to the car when I nearly dropped the entire thing and caught it just in time, whew!  BUT, it spilled on my window (look closely).  No big deal, right?!  WRONG!  Chris just washed and waxed the Jeep :0

Day 16

The Groceries
Oh, how I despise grocery shopping!  Well, it isn't the shopping part but more the taking it home and putting it away part that I just cannot stand!  At least today's shop was better since Chris was with me.

We started out by going to one of our favorite spots, Chicago's.  We shared a BBQ Chicken Salad and enjoyed an ice cold beer in a frosty mug, yummm!  Then, the shopping began.

After shopping, I prepared a set of healthy snacks for the week...cucumber slices, sweet snap peas, yogurt and granola.  Then, I cut up red peppers and pineapple to layer with teriyaki turkey meatballs for tonight's meal.  Dinner was fabulous!

Day 15

Skinny Margarita?
Ever since watching Bethenny on Real Housewives of New York, I have wanted to try her Skinny Girl Margaritas.  I was shopping at BevMo last week and saw it there and the bottle was not expensive.  I pulled out the fancy margarita glass and gave it a try.  The drink was a little strong, so I added a splash of pomegranate juice and yum!  Two thumbs up!

Day 14

My Classroom
Here is the view I see each morning as I walk up to my classroom.  I really love my location...close to the office and the bathroom (very important in the teacher world).  On the windows, I have displayed the kids' art project telling about their time at our sleep away camp to Walker Creek Ranch.  The hooks out front is where the backpacks are stored each day.

Day 13

Our Entertainment Center
Well this is where we watch TV and movies, play Wii, and store lots of junk (see those baskets).  If you don't recognize the show...I was watching Real Housewives of Beverly Hills as I took this picture.  On top of the entertainment center you will find the chess set I gave to Chris on our wedding.  This is also the set that my mom loves to mess with each time she visits.  She will put the pieces out of place and it drives Chris crazy!

Day 12

Watch Out Rocky
Look at my new, cute, pink, boxing gloves!  I received these for Christmas and now Chris and I have been working out by boxing each Wednesday.  Hopefully I will not get a black eye for how hard Chris throws punches (even though I have punch mitts on).

Day 11

City Council Meeting
Tonight was the annual meeting when our school presents their Character County essay winners at the City Council Meeting.  The three fifth grade winners read so wonderfully and were truly an inspiration!  This picture is of the city's seal above the mayor.

Day 10

Chinese Chicken Salad, YUM
I received this recipe from my mom years ago and I am requested by Chris to make this salad often.  I never thought I would see Chris wolf down salad.  Here is the recipe...the smiles on the eaters' faces will say it all.

Salad:
8 Cups Coleslaw
2 Top Ramen noodle packages, Crumbled
4 Green Onions, Diced
2 Cups Chicken (canned, packaged, grilled)
1 Cup Mandarin Oranges, Drained (optional)

Dressing:
1/2 Cup Vegetable Oil
2 Packets Top Ramen Seasoning (found in the package)
2 Tbsp Seasoned Rice Vinegar
2 Tbsp Sugar
2 Tbsp Soy Sauce

Day 9

Would We Have Dated???-Westlake Village, CA vs. Danville, CA
Chris' mom and dad came by today to drop off some things that had been stored in his childhood closet.  One box was full of photos from Chris' photography class in high school.  He had taken a self portrait with his water polo cap with a corona hat on top (oh how kids cannot wear a beer hat to school now).  So, I decided to pull out a high school picture of myself to compare our young selves.  My picture was taken one day at the mall (don't know why) but I was feeling awful that day with horrible cramps.  Funny how you remember the day once you see a photo.

Well, would we have dated back in high school?  Chris thinks, "NO!"  He thinks this because he feels I was a part of a "snotty crew".  I think differently.  I think I would have liked this water polo/swimmer.

Day 8

Sunset from Our Front Porch
The weather has been gorgeous!!!  I wore flip flops today and I am in a great mood.  It is amazing what a little sunshine and weather in the 70s can do.  This photo is what I saw as I admired the sunset this evening while sitting on our front porch.

Day 7

Kona and Fox

Kona Taking Over the Couch

Kona, Smiling

One photo for today would not suffice!  I felt bad not having a photo of Kona, our lovable, black lab.  So, I saw her grab the fox, a favorite toy.  Next, she jumped on the couch and the progression of photos began.  Kona, being 96 pounds, easily takes over the couch.  She had shoved me into the corner and made herself quite comfortable.  What you don't see is that Dixie is at Kona's feet being kicked!!!

Day 6

New Classroom Laptop
FINALLY!!!  I cannot put into words about how excited I am to have a new laptop for the classroom, but I will try...

My last computer did not connect to my projector properly, had no working disc drive, was so slow, and just frustrated me beyond belief.  I am SO very thankful to my school for not only a working computer but a brand new laptop, yay!!!

Day 5

The Color Wheel, Abstract Style
All those years of playing school while I was a student and now that I am a teacher, I miss being a student!  Today I sat back and joined in on the art lesson while our fabulous art teacher taught the fifth graders and me.  She taught us about the color wheel (the primary, secondary, and tertiary colors) and we put that lesson to work to create an art piece.

Day 4

Cat Stretch
Here's....HARLEY!  I love coming home to be greeted by our two doggies and this kitty cat.  Harley may look cute and sweet, as he stretches, but what you don't know is that he is using his nails to claw up the carpet!

Day 3

Chris and Turbo Tax
Tax Time!  Unlike some people, we are eager to do the taxes...hoping and expecting a return!  So, the day off due to MLK's birthday is devoted to taxes.

Day 2

Dixie "Poofing Out"
Today, Chris and I, took Dixie and Kona for a walk through this creek area near our home.  Dixie refuses to go on a walk unless EVERYONE goes.  Still, she will be stubborn when she gets too hot, too cold, too tired, or just wants to go on her own path...we call this "poofing out".  This term was created because we call her "Poof" due to her immense about of gas and she is "pooping out".

Day 1

Products from Farmer's Market
Well, I have started...a photo a day.

Today was a gorgeous day.  After weeks of very cold weather, rain, and lots of clouds, the sun was shining and I couldn't believe that I wore a tank top to our Farmer's Market.  I have been wanting to shop at the Farmer's Market for a while and finally did so today.  I bought strawberries (I love berries), apples (you can still see the dirt on them), blood red oranges, lemons, fresh bread, potatoes, and shallots.
